have heard and hear him write these past few months? is there a romney doctrine on foreign policy? how would you encapsulate it? guest: i don't know if there is a romney doctrine yet. governor romney is a very smart, successful person. my guess is that it is not the issue he wants to emphasize in the campaign. once the campaign to be about the economy and the unemployment rate. it is a difficult position for a republican to be running against a democrat who has a strong record on national security. that has been difficult for the romney campaign. i worked for republicans and democrats in various administrations, so i am not a political person. but it seems to me that republicans always try to run to the right of the democrats, and sometimes accused democrats of being weak on a national security. in this election you have president obama, who has taken us out of iraq, president obama who has waged a very tough war against al qaeda, has gone after the al qaeda leadership, notably osama bin laden, who has taken out some of the terrorists in yemen, including awlaki, an important terrorist

is the same as the president's. mitt romney and has basically described the current policy as criticism. you asked how long we have. it is important to remember that iran is not on the brink of having a nuclear weapon. they have made clear progress. they are accumulating uranium at certain levels, but it was still take them at least one year to develop a nuclear device. that is likely to remain the case for some time to come. more importantly, for them to make such a move toward a device could be detected. the only way they can generate material for a nuclear device is t facilities that as are under inspection. they would get caught in plenty of time and giving americans and others to respond. we will not be caught with our pants down on us. we still have time to achieve a diplomatic outcome and let the sanctions soak in. we can find a peaceful way out of this before rushing into another war in the middle east. >> let me follow that up. the israeli government, the prime minister, at least, has challenged the united states to define a red line or else is would be able to act on its own withou

a cartoon. mitt romney -- the u.s. should immediately bomb england. foreign policy with mitt romney. this is a cartoon that i had in my comic strip. we each have these -- i do not know. i am not sure if best and -- i promised i would not miss up your comic strip. we each do a comic strip so we are lucky as far as editorial cartoons. good to use the other side of our brands to read comics. i have been accused of making my way to political. this is my 9/11 tribute. it actually was originally a long strip. you have to turn your head to see it. i made it into an editorial cartoon. here is mitt romney having a candlelight vigil for osama bin laden. this is a cartoon i did the year after 9/11 about maybe some of the causes behind 9/11. this is also the year after 911. i call it the twin tepees. it marks the genocide that has happened. it was a reaction to some of the more excess of chest beating about 9/11. we never remember the other tragedies that have been on american soil. i do not really have anything to say about this. [laughter] i think the ladies and know what i am talking about.
